Not IF, but When.

Setting Goals.

We recently had the pleasure of working with an amazing company out of New Orleans called Roman Candy Rum. Here’s the video we put together for them:


It is really amazing to work with new people, new products, and to tell a story that’s never been told with video. I was most impressed with the quality of their brand and the beauty of their family and history. If you watched the video you can see exactly what I’m talking about. It was an amazing project for us in so many ways, we loved the product, shooting in New Orleans, and shooting with the RED EPIC camera. In many ways it will be one of the most important projects we ever do, and here’s why.  Having the privilege to work with a company like Roman Candy Rum that is so special has us wondering, what makes us special?

This thought has been bugging me for a couple weeks now. In a recent meeting with a prospective client I was given a book, The Strangest Secret, which is essentially a transcription of a speech given by Earl Nightingale way back in the day. (If you’re a business owner I suggest you check it out here.) I read the book that afternoon, it’s short. Now I’ll have you know that I really am not the guy who is all into motivational books or self-help programs, but it had a pretty profound effect on me, it made me realize I didn’t have any clear goals. Really, I had not put a lot of thought into exactly what I want Infinite Focus to be. Our model has been make high quality media for people who come to us and ask for it, and that’s pretty much it.

So we’ve been talking, a lot, about what it is we want to be. I’ve realized some important things that I think will change Infinite Focus for the better forever and enable us to really distinguish ourselves, and provide the services our clients need the most. And I’ve never been more optimistic about our future.

Grow Where Your Planted.

This has always been one of my catch-phrases, and I’m realizing now it is the key to our success from here on out as a company. There are a lot of companies that can do  a lot of things, and we could do a lot of things, heck, we have done a lot of things. From logo design, web design, copy-writing, print materials, etc. When it comes to visuals, we’ve done it all. But where are we planted? We’re video guys, who are film lovers, and are passionately addicted to the desire to make amazing, filmic, exciting videos that create an emotional connection with the audience. We’re story tellers first.

Reach New People

Right now the number of people looking for video services who find us is essentially zero. If you search on google for video services, or anything, we don’t come up. This is something we’re going to pour our efforts into fixing. We have a long-standing theory that if people saw our work, they would hire us. Well, we’re ready to test that theory out. We’re preparing to change our game and step things up. We’re ready for growth, and we’re taking steps to make that happen. Keep up with us over the next few months and you’ll see some of the hopefully amazing results.

Help Our Clients Gain More Reach

As we’ve been thinking about what it is that we need, we realize that many of our clients are in the same boat. They need to be seen. We’re now putting together some very well thought out packages that we can present to our clients to offer them not just an incredible video that sits on their website, but an incredible video that is working for them around the clock, bringing in new customers and converting views into real business leads. We’re working with experts in Search Engine Optimization to offer this service. It boils down to this, we don’t just want to make videos for companies we love, we want to help these companies connect with more people, and the right people; custom tailored SEO is the way to make this happen.

What’s the Big Picture?

A good friend of mine and a faithful client recently asked me what I wanted to be, I quickly answered, I want to be the best. I realized as I said it that it was really true, that is what I want. I’ve known for a long time what I don’t want Infinite Focus to be, I don’t want IF to be another local video company that is all about cranking projects out and gets so bogged down with meeting pay-roll that we forget that we want to make amazing content.  We want to make the best moving pictures in the world, and that’s what Infinite Focus is going to work for every day.  It’s going to be a long journey, but every client from here on out will be working with people who are striving to be the best in the world; and to me that’s pretty exciting. We’re proud of what we’ve done, but we know that we have only scratched the surface of what we are capable of. We feel refreshed, energized, and motivated.

What are Your Goals?

When is the last time you set goals? Are you so focused on the work in front of you that you don’t know where you’re going? I encourage you to take some time to write down specifically what your goals are, what you want your business to be, and who you want to be. Keep an open mind, but this will give you a clear sense of direction.
